Fynbos Ridge

Project Type: Residential
Project Area: Hartenbos
Project Size: 290 m2

This house is situated on a steep hillside close to Mossel Bay, where strict height restrictions and challenging topography shaped every design decision.
The building responds to its terrain with a compact footprint and elevated living spaces that extend toward the view.
The spatial organization is guided by openness, with no passages or enclosed corridors, so that each room connects directly to the next.
Large, glazed openings frame the landscape and ensure that the interiors feel bright and connected. The orientation of the house was carefully considered so that the sun influences the arrangement of spaces throughout the day.
The living areas are positioned to capture expansive views, while the bedrooms are oriented to receive the benefit of north light, ensuring warmth and comfort.
This balance between outlook and thermal performance creates a home that prioritizes clarity, accessibility, and the experience of living in direct relationship with its site.
