Herolds view
| Project Type: | Residential |
| Project Area: | Herolds Bay |
| Project Size: | 410 m2 |
Set on a steep slope, this residence engages the terrain through elevated platforms and split levels that follow the natural gradient. Entry occurs at the upper level, where the main living areas and principal suite are positioned among the treetops, with guest rooms located below. The layout ensures that every space opens toward the forest canopy, with additional framed views to nearby hills and distant mountain ridgelines.
The architecture is defined by strong, expressive lines and a muted, earthy exterior—soft in tone but deliberate in presence. Timber detailing complements the wooded surroundings, while extensive glazing and generous outdoor thresholds open the building to the landscape. The forest-facing elevation is fully engaged, while the road-facing side remains more reserved, offering a degree of separation without full enclosure.
Rather than relying on external structures, the design adapts to changing conditions through spatial flexibility. Living areas open wide via stacking doors, extending the interior outward when the setting allows. When conditions require, the façade closes seamlessly, keeping the indoor spaces active and central to daily life.
The architectural expression is shaped by environmental logic and spatial clarity—confident, site-specific, and fully immersed in its setting.
